Body and Paint in Southern CA

I have a 35 Full Fendered Truck near completion. I am looking for recommendations of a body and paint shop in Southern California (I live in Huntington Beach). Any recommendations? I was planning to use JMiller Customs in Temecula, but he is not available to take on this big of a job a this time.

Personally, I’d register it and drive it in gel coat until Miller can fit you in. The man is honest, on time and seriously talented.

    I would too.

    BUT...

If you HAVE to go to paint the only other west coast painter with a stellar record that I know of is Ken Pike, AKA StreetRodPainter. (He's not a forum vendor):

He's up in Yuba City, so you would have to be up for a couple of road trips.

The overwhelming majority of Southern California roadsters from San Diego to Ventura County have been painted by Jeff Miller, and with good reason.

The mention of Chip Foose reminded me that Lanzini Body Works in Huntington Beach painted several of the cars for Chip. They are in Huntington Beach, so maybe some one to check out. I would expect their prices are going to be on the high side.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will follow-up on viable options. I appreciate and really respect Jim Miller as an alternative (he was my first choice), but he was very clear that he couldn’t take on this job (too big of a job based on current limitations).

Although not a FFR specialist, I have had good luck with Gustafson's there in HB. Might be worth a conversation with them. I had a front end that needed work on an Audi and I first looked around for a "High-end" shop, only to find a resistance to take on the small job and a wide price variance that made me nervous. In the end I decided to have Gustafson's quote it because of their reputation in the area and they did a fantastic job at a reasonable price. They also work on fiberglass.

If I can't wait for Jeff I'm going to give them a shot at my coupe...

Thank you all for the inputs. I took my 35 Truck to Ken Pike in Yuba City. Ken seems to be a straight shooter who knows his FFR vehicles and auto body work. After looking around the shop and talking extensively with Ken, I’m excited for about getting a very good paint job! I also appreciate that he’ll let me be involved in at a couple of critical points of disassembly and reassembly.
