    IRS Axle Installation

I had no problem installing the Left Side CV Axle (Driver’s Side). The right side (Passenger Side) won’t go in any farther…used dead blow hammer…nothing. The right side axle won’t come out and won’t go in…

Have any of you had this problem, if yes, how did you resolve?

    Thanks,
    Matt

I've done several and not had any issues. Others have reported some initial trouble getting them to seat. But figured it out. Are you absolutely positive you put the proper axle in the proper side? The left and right CV axles are different and would result in a no-go if installed on the wrong side(s). The difference is shown in the IRS instructions. They should bump in somewhat easily. A tap with a dead blow hammer with the inner CV joint collapsed (e.g. pushed in) usually allows the C-clip to seat properly. Removing typically takes only a bit of wedging between the case and the CV joint to pop back out.

Yes, I believe the Axles are on the correct side. Dave B at Factory Five said put some gear oil on and try it again...

    Stay tuned.

Just installed 4 today. A; went in with a light tap of a dead blow hammer. Make sure the splines lock in before hitting it.

Based on everyone's advice, I pulled out the axle measured in the inside...as everyone said it was backwards...after swapping went in like butter.

    Thanks for all the help!
