One of the modifications I wanted to do first during my rebuild, was the rear suspension. The original builder used donor springs on the build and it was a very cushy feeling, but not good for performance handling. I really wanted to go IRS, but I make only enough money to do certain things. The 5-link was more cost effective with some good performance but still not going to be as good as IRS. The quality of the 5-link is incredible, but the install is best done on a new build not ...
My brother Phil, who like me has allways had the Cobra bug, jumped on the chance to get one of the new anniversary Roadsters. It's t-minus one week until it's done! It is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, 3/15 and will be picked up by Stewart Transport shortly thereafter for the trip to California. Not many options on the list because the kit is so complete! The current plan is to stuff a TKO 600 - backed FMS BOSS 427 under the hood. Oof. It should be a screamer! ...
I thought I'd have this armature made for my model by now, but that hasn't happened yet. I slogged across town through Sunday's big rain storm to pick up some black foamboard to use as a base for the clay. I also retrieved some of my spare clay tools from my locker at Greenwich House Pottery. A few of them need a bit of repair, but they'll do nicely. I'm struggling with the dimensions for the armature. Get it ...
When I pulled the engine and heads off It was amazing this thing ran at all. Now I know why I wasnt getting the performance I should have. After 20 cans of brake cleaner and wd40 I was able to clean up the block easily along with the pistons. Engine seems to still be fresh enough to proceed with the rebuild. Ill be getting rid of the iron heads and putting the beautiful edelbrock heads and matching cam that Mike Forte sold me! Thanks Mike!
I didn't care for the kits corrugated stainless steel hose and instead will be using mostly Ford 4.6L hoses. One Non Ford hose I did need to source (for the Coupes unique configuration) however was the lower Radiator hose.
