    Fuel Filter Location

    All,
    Before I button up the fuel lines and Fuel Filter...how well does this location work for the Fuel Filter, any potential issues?

    I've attached 3 pictures for reference:

    That position is well inside the tire and will be fine (my fuel pump is in approximately the same spot). However, you may wish to better support the filter body as vibration (shakes from road bumps) will eventually fatigue the steel fuel line and it may break causing a fuel spill or worse !

    I do not like that location. It is exposed to possible road debris. I prefer to have it tucked up above the rear axle, near the fuel tank, yes harder to get to, but they almost never need changing.

    I'm not a fan if that location with it being so low and possible to being hit. here is what I did

    also not a fan due to it's low position. also you'll have a tough time securing your return line if the filter is there. are you planning on securing the filter to the frame w/ some bracket? if not, you should. consider using that vertical square 2" frame just behind the current location. Mine's on the inside of the 2" square frame just inside the wheel well.

    That's almost the same place I mounted mine. I don't ever plan on needing to change mine, but I did do a cutout in the trunk if it's ever needed.

    Random observation: the filter looks very small. 40 micron? I looked up the specs for my setup and it needs 10 microns. I'm sure you already know this but worth saying out loud...

    Maybe do some brainstorming, and figure out a design for a debris shield, filter support brace combination.

    Perhaps an L shaped section of aluminum panel, attached to the bottom of the frame tube, and then turns upward to further shield the filter. Drill a couple holes in it, for a Zip tie, that could help support the filter from vibration. You could drill and tap the frame tube for machine screws, so it would be removable, if you needed to access the filter in future.

    Reached out to Dave B at Factory Five...he said the location was fine. I used closed cell form and a 2 inch pipe bracket from Home Depot to button it to the frame...

    My pump is external & wanted the filter before the pump. Its mounted on the interior side of the rectangle tube, easy to change. Pump us mounted to a steel shield that is mounted to the vertical tube also easy to change.

    I have mine mounted in the engine bay at the throttle body. It's easy to access, it's the last thing the fuel sees before it enters the EFI and it helps prevent the possibility of line debris downstream of the filter entering the injectors. But for EFI, you'll most likely need a 10 micron filter.
    FFR MKIV ordered 12 July 2019. IRS, Wilwood Brakes, 18" Wheels w/MT tires, power steering, EFI, Heat. 347 Dart w/TKO-600 by Mike Forte, Holley FI, MSD coil and CD box. All new, no donor build.
