    Intake Duct Ideas

I am installing a 4.6l 2V (2002 donor) in the MK4 base kit. Looking for ideas on what everyone used for intake ducts. Modifying the donor car intake doesn’t seem very robust And not a great fit. What does the complete kit use? Thanks in advance.

Funny you should ask. I just finished mine. Mine is a bit different than yours but here is what I did. The air filter will be just behind the aluminum and the front right wheel.

Just FYI, there is a topic fairly recently about this same subject on the newer 4.6L engines. I think I started it. It has some of the ones you may be looking for.

That's exactly where I went. Did this mainly to keep the aftermarket aluminum intake tube that came with the donor. Even so, I still had to cut some of it off. There were concerns about pulling in hot air from the j-pipe, but after driving in 95-100 degree heat, I didn't notice any HP issues.

Others just get tubes to reroute up the right top fender, ending in the free space between the radiator and accessory drive.

    Alternatively, you can do this:

    Hi Joe,
Will you be able to remove the air filter once the body is installed?

Would you have the link to that topic by chance?

    Hi Joel,

Yes, from the engine compartment. It is bolted to the 3/4” square tube member. Nimble hands required, of course.

    How about a "Turkey Pan"?

I started off with the conical filter on a tube, and ran it into the passenger side wheel well. I decided to clean up the engine bay, cover up some of the 4.6L's, umm, not beautiful looks, and made an engine cover/turkey pan intake.

    Here's my intake set-up now:

    The engine is a 2001 4.6L 2V (SOHC).

Here are a couple threads on the topic:

More photos of the components can be seen in my photo album: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/albu...umid=25&page=2

Mine is in this location also. It's out of the way, easy to service, and the wiring fits.

    Jag Engineer,

Your engine is a SOHC, not DOHC, right? I think most of the photos in this post are of DOHC (4 valves/cylinder) engines. Mine is a SOHC (2 valve/cylinder) engine. Not sure that matters.
