Hi, I pretty much finished my wiring harness, but I noticed that my odometer always displays the mileage even when the key is not in. Anyone know what I messed up here?
Thanks,

That is the way it is suspose to work.
There is a hot wire going to the cluster that is used to display the odometer and to remember the the trip odometer miliage when the key is off. It puts a very small drain on the battery.
Congrats on finishing the harness.

Bob,
Thank you! I thought I did something wrong.

My odometer turns off when the key is out of the car. I thought the mileage is stored in the EEPROM chip - otherwise the mileage would clear when the odometer was removed from the car.
I'd double check the wiring
It is fine to turn off the 12v to the cluster when the key is off or the battery switch is off.
The main odometer is stored in eeprom so that info is not lost.
The TRIP odometer is stored in ram and will be lost when removing power from the cluster.
There is also 12v hot going to the Subaru ECU. If you turn it off you lose it's learned memory.
After momentarily disconnect my Subaru battery, the engine take 3-4 revolutions to start. Normally 1-2.

The reason is takes longer to start on your car after an ECU reset is because you have a DBW equipped car. It's calibrating the DBW system and will not start until it completes that process (this could be considered part of learned memory). Basically it's the time is takes on an STi cluster to do the gauge sweep. Non DBW ECUs will start on 1/2 revolutions even if the ECU has been reset.
