    818 gas pedal

I have argued for over an hour with the gas pedal, mounting bracket, pedal box and the firewall.
When I put the bracket pedal assembly up to the fire wall, when the gas pedal is depressed, it will hit the clutch bar on the clutch/brake pedal box. Is this correct?
It seems like there isn’t much movement or throw on the throttle cable if the assembly is mounted according to the directions, not to mention that the drawings in the book don’t reflect the actual size and shape of the bracket.
Is there a different bracket or am I missing something??

Oh yah, and how do you get the throttle cable through the firewall?

Yes, that is correct. It is enough throw to fully open the throttle plate.

This is how I chose to mount the cable: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showt...l=1#post142724

But the angle of the cable coming through the firewall still isn't ideal and was sawing through the hole in the bracket/pedal. I clearanced that and now it sounds like it wants to saw through the end of the cable sleeve. I'm going to try leveling out the cable with some bevel washers, but haven't gotten to it yet.

Can you explain why it works better without the bracket. I just installed mine with the bracket but don't like the look and the interference.

I plan to use angle iron to make a bracket to mount to the frame on the left side. It will rest against the firewall and probably be secured to it as well.

I found that it was too flimsy with the bracket. I think that Wayne and Erik didn't use it either. Chris (Metalmaker) stiffened his to use it. I like Rori's mod to put the ball through the firewall with the bigger hole and slot`. I used a large washer to reinforce the hole. It's been a while, check the early build threads for details.

Rori - Have any pictures of the inside gas pedal mounting? Source on the beveled washers you ended up using to keep the cable happy?

If you all aren't using the bracket to mount your gas pedal then what is it attached to?

It is mounted directly to the firewall, lined up with the hole for the cable. You can reinforce the firewall if you wish, it's much stiffer this way then if you use the flimsy bracket. I found that with the bracket I didn't have enough free cable length too... details and photos in my thread, it's been a long time...
