Your best bet at that price range is used. Or build it yourself.

A couple other sites are Cobra Country and of course EBay.

Dont trust the sellers description. See the car in person . Get an inspection otherwise.

I bought off EBay, got the inspection, had it delivered with no regrets.
Well, maybe one, Why didnt I do this sooner ???? lol

my vote is to build it. These can be built in under a year very easy. Plus you get what you want, exactly they way you want it.

Do you want to build a car? Or do you want to buy a car?

There are several things you need to do first before you even purchase a kit.

1) What are your intentions with the car? Daily driver? Auto-X? Cruises?

2) How original do you want it to be (pin drive wheels, old school tires, Smith gauges, etc)? Or do you want new technology like huge brakes, 17/18" wheels, modern gauges, etc?

3) What is your budget?

Marc,

I often have guys calls in looking to purchase a completed Roadster and I suggest they go to the "For Sale" section of the Forum. If a FFR customer plans to sell their car, they will definitely post it there. Go under the Forums tab and then scroll down to the "Classified" section and you'll see the section you need.

Marc, where in FL are you? Lots of us in the Sunshine state willing to help look at potential buys or help build. Might I suggest a slightly skewed version of Sally's reply. Look for an unfinished kit. You'll often help someone out who needs money fast, get a nice kit ready for a new home, and often some extras like wheels and tires or even a crate engine. Then you just have the assembly and a few other pieces. With a good deal happening now and then and keeping the go-fast bits to minimum (a stock engine for now still offers plenty of fun) you can be on the road for $30K that way and still get the enjoyment of building and making it your own.

HTH...

I know where there is a nicely built car that can be had for about 25K. currently in Mass, but registered in Florida, it will need paint since the body is in Gelcoat still and needs the carpeting done. PM me if your interested. ( I do not own the car it is a friend of mine.)

I went through the same process.......build or buy? I searched for about 2 years looking for the right car for the right price. I started to get frustrated and almost pulled the trigger to buy a kit from Factory Five in December when they were running their sale. Then a week before Christmas I found a recently built Factory Five with only 1180 miles that checked nearly all the boxes on my wish list. The car was located in Atlanta so after negotiating a sales price, 2 days after Christmas I drove to Atlanta with my buddy and bought the car. I rented a car trailer from U-Haul, coupled it to my truck and towed it back home to New Jersey. I have had the enjoyment of driving it instantly this summer. Unless you are intently focused on building it yourself to an exact standard, purchasing a prebuilt car is much cheaper and has instant gratification.

Do you want to build a car? Or do you want to buy a car?

Marc,

I think you are approaching this problem with the right mind set. You said you are not in any hurry. That's a very good thing. If you decide to buy instead of build, you can wait 'til the right car comes along. It may not be exactly the way you would build it but it probably will still be pretty cool. Another thing that will help in your search is to read some of the build threads and you will see components and features that can be added without having to tear the car appart. So you could personalize the new buy as you go.

If you build, there is a commitment of time that can be overwhelming if you are too anxious to get to the finished product. If you're like me, a tinkerer, then the time element will not press on you so much. Although, I must admit, I'm getting a little anxious at this point. Some people buy their kit and "bust" right through it in about six months to a year and have it on the road. That's the way to do it if you can. Good luck either way, WEK.

I am just fresh back from a tour of the Shelby museum and their factory. The factor is divided into two areas. 1. Cobra 2. Mustangs. The were working on three cobra's. All were Kirkum alum. bodies. Apparently Shelby is using another vendor to build the continuation cobra's. Marc....don't go there you can buy 5 FFR MK4's for the price of one Shelby and it is only a roller. Same concept as Superformance.
