To all Carb experts:

I just got a killer deal on a like new 700cfm double pumper that has been refurbished by Holley. Frankly it was too good to pass up but I am a little concerned that it is too much carb for my engine. If not too much, it is definitely "hairy edge" on a 302 with an "F" cam and Edelbrock RPM heads/intake so I would like to understand the pros/cons of replacing my 600cfm vacuum secondary with this unit. From what I have read I will lose some low end torque but gain top end HP. Not a big deal really as I have more than enough low end torque. Anything else I should consider?

Worst case I could look to use it as a trade for a 650cfm but if the con's aren't too bad, I would probably just stick with it.

Thx
Todd

You can live with that quite well, put it in and tune it , it should perform admirably for you.

I'm using a 650 dp Holley on a 347 with the F cam. Could have gone bigger. Yours should be fine.

I recently went from a Holly double pumper (650) to a pro systems 780. Works great on my 302 with big comp cam.

I think your choice of carbs is pretty good. The only thing you might double check is the jetting (consult Holley tech). If it is middle of the road for that carb which it probably is, then you have a good starting point for tuning. You might have to add some degrees of timing but you're better off with the 700 cfm. IMO. WEK.

Thanks all! I'll bolt it on and see how it does.
