Got a message from Mark with Cunningham that he'll be at my place on 12/22 to deliver my Mk5 kit so I guess I can go ahead and get this build thread started now.
My timeline:
11/12 - Placed order online for Mk5 complete kit as well as for the Coyote engine/trans package on factoryfive-at
11/13 - Received email from FFR with sales invoice and a completion date showing of 12/13. Contacted Todd at Cunningham Transport to get on their schedule ($2600 to San Diego for the Mk5 and $500 for the engine/trans)
12/12 - 12/14 - Attended Roadster build school at Mott Community College. Scott Schumaker and Jim Jennings were the instructors. Great experience and highly recommend.
12/15 - Receive call from Todd at Cunningham that his driver Mark is at Factory Five and will finish loading up that day and will get on the road the next day.
12/17 - Mark texted stating he would be at my place on 12/22. Engine/trans will be delivered some time later down the road. Apparently FFR is waiting on engines from Ford Performance and have no idea on when they'll get them.
My order:
Complete Mk5 kit
Coyote engine/trans from Factoryfive-AT
Hydraulic clutch
Coyote stainless headers
Uncoated/Bare steel side exhaust (planning to go black with cerakote)
IRS
Power steering (I've read the KRC kit spacers needs some modifications to work with the Gen4 Coyotes)
Speedhut Vintage GPS 7 gauge set. Also ordered the oil temp gauge to replace the clock
Leather roadster seats
Powder coated chassis
Powder coated driver and passenger rollbars
Wilwood front and rear (black). Also ordered their electric parking brake from Summit
17x9 and 17x10.5 Halibrand replica wheels. Will get tires a little later. Current plan is to powdercoat wheels satin black
Leather steering wheel
Mk5 body with cutouts
Carbon fiber dash
3" Simpson harnesses
GT300 Raydot side mirror. Won't be using it as I plan to order mirrors from Breeze
ABS plastic hood scoop
Over-rider bumper kit
Remote brake booster
All of the free options
This will be my first build so I've been watching a bunch of videos on YouTube as well as following most of the build threads on here. I've learned a lot already and going to the build school gave me the opportunity to see it in person. I've got my Milwaukee rivet gun and am ready to get started! Goal is to be done, except for paint/body, by the end of 2026. Guess I'm a couple years to late to get Jim Miller to handle the paint, which would've been nice since he was only an hour from me, so I'll be trailering it about 9 hours up to Ken Pike when the time comes. As for color, I've been going back and forth on this so much. I've been a lifelong Lions fan so I was thinking something to kind of match their alternate helmets like below or something like Jeff Kleiner posted of a car he did back in 2019 using "PPG Vibrance "Hellfire" and the stripes are a custom color from Charley Hutton".
