As pictured here the drivers arm is a bit angled and torqued in. The passenger side was fine. I have not yet cut off the inch or so that the manual mentions. Is the arm too long and this is why it is not sitting in place?

The other issue we had with the ds windshield arm was that it hit the frame while sliding down into place. I sanded and opened up the slot in the body and after a couple of trials and errors the windshield arm went through but came out looking like the picture below. Maybe the cutout is still not big enough and it is putting stress on the arm and making it torqued in.

I had to open my cutouts quite a bit, the rubber and chrome piece hide it well. Not sure if that helps but if you do cut it too big, you can always have your body guy glass it in.

I got real excited on my driver's side exhaust cut out and had to glass a little.

Make sure your body is centered, and the front splash shields are in place. Cut the posts before trying to fit it. The bottom of it may be up against something, and pushing it over.
You can gently bend the post a tad if req'd. It is brass so doesn't take a lot of pressure. Do it in a vice with the windshield unattached to the post of course. Use a towel to prevent marking the chrome. Large channel lock pliers work well to tweak it.

You're going to need to open up that body cutout. You do not want fiberglass touching the arm. You will probably find that the upper end of the arm will fit the frame better if you drive the brass insert downward just a bit...like 1/16 to 1/8". And you know that you need to shim between the lower end of the arms and the chassis to take up any gaps, right? If you didn't before you do now ;) If you don't do that and just use the bolts to draw the arms in you're asking for a cracked windshield.

I had the same issue with the DS arm not aligning at the top of the windshield. Like Al said it doesn't take much to bend. My fix was to sandwiched the arm between two 2x4's to protect the finish from the vise jaws and used a dead blow hammer and hit it at a bit of an angle to get it right - took three hits checking progress after each hit. My PS needed to be adjusted as well just downward a little.

Yup, had the same issue (recently post) I removed the post/bracket clamp and twisted the area between the body line and the frame.
