Hi all!!
I am planning my 1st FFR build. I am old school so am going pushrod motor with carb, 5 speed trans. Everyone seems to use the old round gauges so I was thinking of using a digital Dash to be different. Definitely using the FFR wheels to look correct. And will use a 9" rear-end. With all that being said, should I go basic kit and then just add on the things I want from FFR? I don't plan to do a donor vehicle.
Thanks in advance!!

Highly recommend getting the complete kit; it'll save you money if you are not using a donor car. Also, you can delete part you will source elsewhere... like your gauges. I deleted several things, including my gauges, pipes, etc.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Good luck on this great adventure you're about to embark on.
I'm always reluctant to tell people how they should build their cars as far as choices of engine etc.as it's so personal. However, with regard to your question about basic vs. complete kit I'll offer some input based on what others have been reporting here on the forum with recent orders. It seems that the supply chain issues of the last few years continue to present problems with kit fulfillment and backorders (POL), though FFR is really working hard to catch up. However, it seems that FFR prioritizes shipping kits as complete as possible over fulfilling backorders or parts orders. So I think you're far more likely to get parts in some sort of reasonable timeframe if you order a complete kit than you are if you order a basic kit and then order a bunch of parts individually. Of course it depends on how much of that complete kit you plan to use. If it's just a few items you don't think you'll need, you can always re-sell those on the classifieds. Another option for the bigger-ticket items is to ask FFR to delete certain items from the complete kit order. I asked them to delete my side pipes as I knew I wanted to go a different route, and they gave me a credit on the order for those.
Hope that helps.

Unless you are straying far from the usual recipe or just like to spend a lot of time searching out parts in an effort to save very little money the complete kit is the way to go. And speaking of straying from the recipe…why a 9” rear end? The car is designed to use a Fox Mustang spec 8.8 which is plenty strong.

Welcome! I also agree on going with the complete kit. I too, deleted a few items for credit. Good luck!

Complete kit is by far the best way to go. Digital gauges, just remember this is an open car so make sure you can read them in bright sunlight.
