Was there something between the ball and the socket in my ball joints other than grease? After having the parts powder coated, the ball rattles around in there with much freedom. There is an lot of play in them. If I need to have them replaced, please let me know. My kit is the '33 hot rod #377. Thanks, John

Just grease. There is alot of it in there. Ball joints can feel loose if they are not properly greased. They pobably lost alot of the grease during the coating process. Re-grease them and it should feel the way it used to.

Hi John,
The ball joint should only contain grease, no other materials should be in that socket. The powdercoater's had to take out off the grease in order for the powerdercoating process to take place. No grease in the socket can explain a loose new ball joint, so I would recommend loading it up with grease and checking it again. If it is still loose then, than you should probably replace the ball joint.
Thanks
