Greetings,

On the bottom (fan side) of my -07 radiator are two right angle nipples. The Donor Disassembly, Donor Prep and Assembly Manual Cooling System/ Front Coolant Tubes does not mention them. The only picture I can find is of one shown without the nipple (Donor Car Disassembly/ Preparing Donor Parts/ Radiator/ Removing Lower hose. I can't tell their purpose from looking at the Subaru Shop Manual.

I assume that I just need to plug them with a bolt???? Can anyone confirm this for me? And by any chance can you recommend a bolt size/ thread?

Thanks

Sam, I suspect the nipples in your radiator were for a car that had an automatic transmission in it. An automatic transmission typically has 2 fluid lines running between the transmission and radiator.

Sam, I agree with Bob. They are for automatic transmission cooling. My 2006 Impreza donor had them, but they were simply left unconnected. I did the same. Here's a page from the 2006 manual showing them.

Thanks to both you guys!!! My donor had been in a wreck once prior to my purchase and I guess they replaced the manual transmission version with the auto and just jumped the two lines together. I will do the same.
