View Full Version : No December sale?

I finally have the time to build my Cobra. I waited until December because every year factory five had a sale. Looks like it’s not happening this year. I assume it’s because they are so busy. Does anyone know the current delivery time frames from ordering a kit? I would be looking at the new not donor kit.
Thanks

I believe I saw a post yesterday that someone ordered and it was ~ mid september.

When they are unable to fill the orders they have on hand, due to all the supply issues, they have no reason to offer a sale. I'm sure with the supply constraints and increases in all costs, their bottom line is being squeezed too.

Prices have actually gone up in the past week or so. I ordered my kit in early September and my delivery date (or completion date) is March 12. I heard the lead time is up to 8 months at this point. Good luck!

I ordered mine on Oct 10 and the estimated completion date is Jun 18, 2022. I think the lead times are even longer now. I haven't seen a sale since 2019 although they did give me a $500 military discount.

I know they raised the base prices recently and I am surprised they were able to go this long without raising prices.

There is gamble and risk here for buyer and seller. I do not know if FFR has a cost of parts/labor contingency (fine print) on the contract and I assume there is a substantial down payment. The longer the lead time, the more opportunity for costs to increase, or decrease. OTOH a deposit is working capital not enjoyed by all forms of retail. Bankers love it, but the customer is not making any interest on the down payment.

I think this was brought up during black friday as well. FFR responded that is not fair to offer a sale with so many that have already purchased at full price and still waiting for delivery.

I placed a kit order last week (Mark IV) and the production date is Sept 9, 2022. 8.5 months.

I placed my order in early June 2021 and it was ready to ship November 20, 2021, so a little over 6 months, but it seems its longer now. When I ordered, you only had to put a $1,000 deposit down, which if you are ordering a complete kit, that's only 5% of the price before you do any options. I don't know what your build plan is, but it's not uncommon to put another $10K worth of upgrades/options without even trying very hard unless your plan is a basic build. In my case, the $1K was only 3% of the final cost, so that's pretty reasonable. You can pay it off as early or as late as you want, but you have to be paid in full no later than 2 weeks before your completion date. Stewart Transport didn't pick up until 12/13/21 and delivered 12/18, so it was nearly 7 months before it arrived. It's a while, but in my occupation (commercial electrical), we are seeing 40-52 weeks (yep, a year) for some generators to ship, so FFR isn't the only one getting hammered by the current production & supply issues.

Russ, A comparison to your business experience: I was with several OEM industries, mostly recreational vehicles. Standard practice was 25% (of manufacturing cost) for the OEM and 25% for the dealer, both subject to discounts to encourage sales. Parts and accessory pricing was 500% of manufacturing cost. Plan your purchasing accordingly.

According to Mike DiGiorgio at FFR, the only discounts they currently offer are the build school and military $500 discounts. This morning he respected the military discount off my initial order. That was much appreciated because I waited several years for the winter sale and finally pulled the trigger and went big with a complete kit and many options (unlike my basic MK4 kit).

Wait.... I never got a military discount! Wonder if I can still ask for that before mine is delivered? I'm guessing they just need a DD214? That would be a nice little bonus.

Seems all they asked for was a copy of your ID, I'm sure a 214 would work. BPE also has a pretty good military discount.

Thank you for your service.

Yep, I just needed to send a pic of my ID and they marked the order as eligible for the military discount.

unfortunately, if you already paid, you missed out on the military discount and the school discount is apparently only good for 2 years. fyi - discounts are there if you know about them and remember to mention them . . . I didn't.
they did give me a credit for 250 for the school if I buy more stuff from them so that was nice
