Hey guys,
Finally ready to put the steering wheel on the shaft and it seems that the aluminum is a smaller diameter than the shaft. I tried getting a longer bolt and and pulling but it started to gaw the aluminum so I stopped. Is there something I missing on how to correctly install this without damaging the aluminum.
Russ thompson and NRG quick release mod (not that those should make a difference)
Thanks for the help

IIRC, you have to clock the steering hub just right to slide onto the upper shaft. This prevents the wheel from spinning freely on the shaft if your bolt loosens up. I think there was a flat spot on the shaft that fits into the hub.

Thank you, I am aware of the flat edges needing to line up on the sides. The problem is occurring when you initially start the install of the hub on the shaft prior to the flat edges meshing together.

try chamfering the shaft a bit more with a file.

I had to do the same on mine. More than I would have thought. The radius on mine were fine it was the dimension between the two flats on the shaft was about 0.015 greater than the dimension between the flats on the hub.

I had to deburr/chamfer/smooth the whole upper shaft with some fine grit sandpaper to get it to slide into the lower shaft with reasonable effort, and to get the steering wheel hub to engage. I also used some Fluid Film lubricant on the part of the shaft that slides into the lower shaft to keep if from rusting and seizing in place.

Did some light filing and was able to get it on and in place without to much effort. Thanks for the input.
