The engine idles fine and you can rev it up without any issues but once I start to drive it the engine takes off and then almost immediately chokes out and then regains power over and over. I am running it with open headers so could that be the issue or possibly an o2 sensor wired wrong? Any hep would be greatly appreciated.

It would probably run a bit better without open headers. And give your (and your neighbor's...) ears a break. :p But to your question, what you're describing is very typical for the Gen 3 Coyote with the stock tune and non-stock cold air intake. I experienced the same thing with mine and so have many others. The MAF sensor calibration on that engine is super critical. It simply isn't going to run well or be drivable without a custom tune. I've done remote tunes with Lund Racing and my Gen 3 Coupe with the Gen 3 Coyote is running great now. But not cheap unfortunately. Or if you have a local tuner.

Note if you do a Lund Tune it requires quite a bit of driving including wide open throttle hits. Not something you should be doing (my opinion...) in the go-kart stage. If you go that way, do it when you're done and legal.

Yep, the Gen3 will need a tune. I bought the Lund tune and got a first tune file during go-kart stage and that cleaned up 95% of the issues. Once I was titled and tagged I did the 2nd and 3rd logs and tune. Those sessions will require some empty highway. :-)

Running open headers certainly is 'part' of the issue.
