Can any Subaru 5 speed transmission be converted to limited slip front differential? And be converted to front drive only using the Breman adapter?

I have a 5 speed from what I believe is a 2013 Forester and could use this transmission if it can be adapted.

I know someone on the 818 Facebook group used a newer engine/trans combo (2014 I think) so it can be done, just not sure if all the parts you need come in the 818 kit. Also not sure if the 2013 trans would bolt up to an older motor if you got an older donor for all the suspension and motor.

It will bolt up for sure. The availability of an LSD is an open question. Easiest way to find out is to contact a manufacturer like Quaife and ask.

When you say the Breman adapter, are you talking about the adapter supplied with the FFR kit because I thought that was made by Subarugears?

I'm using a 2012 5MT transmission on my 2004 2.5L EJ255 motor. The only issue is the newer transmission is not machined for the VSS sensor. (speedometer) The engine 2004 ECU (Engine Control Unit) requires this VSS signal. I created this signal by adding a $20 sensor to one of my front wheels.

I do not have a limited-slip differential but many added one to the 5MT transmission. Here is a good thread on installing one by Hindsight.

I have upgraded to a 6 speed in my R, but have a spare Forrester Wagon 5 MT with about 60k, and the 5MT, also a wagon, that was damaged (see my build thread). That unit has a Torsion LSD that I will be willing to sell, if it was not damaged. I hope to pull the transmission apart soon and find out. PM me if you (or anyone else) is interested. I'd also like to sell the spare transmission....
