which heater line is which?

I don't know that it matters a lot, but there are 2 metal lines coming from the engine that Factory Five supplies a short 'U' hose to bypass. These would normally go to the heater core. Since I'm using the heater with a valve from Vintage Air that has a flow direction on it, it might matter which way the flow goes. I don't know which of these lines goes to the heater and which comes back from the heater.

The top silver tube in hot water from the crossover on top of the engine. This is water to the heater.

The black bottom tube is water from the heater to the suction side of the water pump.
