View Full Version : New Tremec TKX 5 speed
Looks like Tremec has come out with a new transmission that resolves the TKO issues. Check it out here https://americanpowertrain.com/shop/transmissions/tremec-tkx-5-speed-tuet17765-ford-26-spline-68-5th-gear/
Hopefully Mike Forte will share anything he knows about it. It shows to be available this month.

Curious to see what this means for support/availability for the existing TKO family.
Any information on whether the new TKX will still fit the MKIV? Looking to purchase my drive train in the next few months and would be curious to hear if anybody has any opinions/knowledge on the matter.
I saw it on one of the Motortrend TV shows this weekend and it looks smaller than the TKO, but still has three shifter locations. There are a lot of TKOs out there and don't see TREMIC abandoning support on them any time soon.

How bad are the standard TKO 500 & 600 transmissions?
The T56 set-up has been pretty impressive in the last three rides that my brother owned.
I thought they were just a little clunky.
Are they not synchronized?

My TKO600 has been perfect, shifts smooth, no problems. I kind of thought the TKO600 was considered bulletproof.

It is. Did a little studying and viewed some videos describing the new TKX. Has a lot of similarities to the TKO. But they also addressed some of the known issues. So mainly I saw it as a next generation. Gasketed case versus metal-to-metal with the anaerobic sealant. Clearly the number of TKO's we've seen leak was recognized as an issue. Has the same shift/syncro design as the T-56 and they say will shift up to 8,000 RPM. Limited shift RPM's with the TKO another known issue for some. Is a slightly more compact. But still listed at the same 105 lbs. No rear mount, so nothing to cut off any more. This video gives an in-depth review. https://youtu.be/ryeUq3tGNQw.
