I've tried measuring everything and it seems like the front passenger side body mounts were just drilled too high. Is that possible or am I missing something else? The gap between the tire and top of the fender looks terrible and as far as I can tell the frame and suspension are the same height on both sides.. so that just leaves the body.

Here are some pictures of the 3/4 frame where the front tubes connect at the top of the radiator, you can see the large gap on passenger side.

Assuming this is a MkIV the body normally does not contact the frame that far forward. I have seen pics w/ as much as a 1/2 inch gap there. I haven't seen, or don't remember, any w/ a difference left to right. Your difference doesn't look like it would cause a problem though. You might check how the body is fitting where it goes under the rocker panel area where the forward of the two attachment bolts are. Is there a gap on one side different from the other side at that point? I have no idea where you are on your build so no idea if the front end has been aligned or not so can't really comment on your tire to gender look. A couple of suggestions though. 1- Count how many threads are visible above the coil over adjuster collar and make sure that is the same left and right. Do the same at the rear. The count will be different from the front but should be the same left to right. 2- Go to my profile at the very top of this page and enter some car details and your approximate location into your signature line so we can better know what you are working with.

Looking at the first picture makes me beleive that this is a MK-3 or 3.1 based on where the front body is mounting.

Sorry about that, it is a very early mk 3.1 (2007) I've checked the shocks and they are even side to side. I'll recheck my measurements and post some more pictures.

Thanks,
Chuck

Edit: I'm not able to edit my profile, I guess I don't have enough posts yet. I have a mk 3.1 roadster with the koni shocks and 3 link rear. I used a 2003 mustang gt as the donor and included the abs and traction control systems. It runs and drives and I'm at the body fitment stage. I have the door and windshield on and I've done the drop butt mod on the rear. I'm on the list for Jeff Kleiner to paint it in the spring of 2021.

I built a MK-4 so I'm of no help to you.

Someone like Jeff Kleiner, Henry Renard, Jeff Miller, or Mike Everson can answer your question.

Those guys know these cars like the backs of their hands.

Here are some more pictures. I'm 99% sure that I should just push down the body on the passenger side and drill new holes to mount it in the front, but I'd like to see if anyone else had this problem or maybe there is something else wrong. I count 16 threads on each side for the shocks, so they are even and I also measured to the top of the upper control arms and they are also even.

Drivers side gap:
135396

Passenger side gap:
135397

Drivers side shock:

Passenger side shock:

I built a Mk4 so my advice, except for the first recommendation, might be useless. My first recommendation is let Jeff fix it when he does the body work. Drilling extra holes and stuff trying to make it fit yourself will probably increase his workload when he finishes it.
Now for the probably useless bit. Don't try to centre the body over the engine compartment frames. Measure from a fixed point on the frame, I used the upper control arm frame mount, to the edge of the wheel opening on the body on each side. Move the body to make these measurements equal. From looking at your pictures, it seems a 1/2 inch move of the body to the passenger side might be required.

looks to me like the passenger side has had some material removed from the edge already and drivers side hasn't . . . could that be some of your difference?
