TKO-600 slides in place nice & easy with home made locating pins. Old farts working alone sometimes need to make their own tools before yelling for help. Due to lack of clearance upper pin on drivers side needs to be removed once the clutch disk is engaged. Other three will stay in place until the transmission face is seated up to the bellhousing.

The sheet metal one from FF5 doesn't have the glove box so I harvested the glovebox tub from the vinyl dash.

I changed my rear master cylinder to .75 and bleed the brakes as there was way to much rear brake even fully dialed out with the bias adjuster. Changed the front brake fluid, changed the engine oil, put Eibach 750 springs up front and 400 rears in. Also plumbed in an Accusump only to have to remove it after starting the car due to it leaking.

I installed a new battery. Not much fun with the under car mounting location of the Mark I but if I can get 14 years out of the new battery I can live with that. I attribute the long life mostly to replacing the conventional starter with a mini starter five years ago when it started cranking slowly.

Installed a new "fan" belt. My Gen II coyote has two belts- one for the alternator, etc., and one for the power steering pump. I put a new ps pump belt on that is 1/2" shorter. The other one squealed continually, and Mike Forte recommended this change. I let the belt sit in the box for a number of months, but finally got to it Saturday! No more squeal. At least not yet...

The really fun part was that I had to remove the serpentine belt from the crank pulley in order to get the PS belt off. As it turns out, it was easier to do this from underneath the car. That way I didn't have to remove anything else from the front of the engine in order to get to the belts.

I reset the timing to wake things up so it moved from 30 degrees of total timing up to 35 degrees total timing at 3,500 RPM.
Next, I bumped the Rev-Limiter up from 4,600 to 5,100 RPM which gets the engine closer to the Peak Torque which happens around 5,350.
I'll play with the carb this Saturday because that will take some time because I'm not that proficient at that sort of stuff.
Max HP happens at the Redline which is 6,500 RPM though I doubt if I'll ever play up there.

Bear with me, please. Why would you want to limit RPM to 5100? I would think it would be really easy to spin up to 5100 (or more) in a lower gear. I'm pretty sure I do (but then again, I'm running Ford power...) Really, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, merely trying to understand.

I'm still in break-in mode since getting my title and license plate in January of this year.

> Once I get to 750 miles, I'll change the oil once more and bump up the limiter to 5,600.

built my mounting box, note - my name is not Mark Breeze, quality does not come close to his battery box - but then again, it's just a mount for my ABS HCU, so it will be tucked down by the battery box

Used my pizza box mockup to scribe the sheet metal, some extra parts from the anniv build came with un-powdercoated stuff so I'm recycling :)
145789

Since I have the cheapo Harbor Freight brake, I can't easily do keyed width bends, so I used my vice to do the initial bend - and cinched the rest with a hammer and square corner - not pretty -but functional
145790

This gave me the shelf to mount the HCU, so I drilled/matched the holes - I left the HCU bolt to sustain the mount as well as the bottom pins so it should be pretty secure with rivnuts
145791

I went to paint, it was dark outside and after my initial spray I realized that someone at the store had swapped color lids
so I thought I was getting hammered black paint, and it ended up being a gray/tan hammertone... I'll paint over with some black tomorrow...
extra rivet holes are pre-drilled so I can place in the car and drill into the 4" tubes and a couple rivets into the Breeze battery box as well - overall about 8 rivets to hold this in place

Here's a tale for all new builders. I think I have to take responsibility for this one. I brought the car in for a "real" alignment today, to people who actually know what they are doing. The first alignment was done by a national chain who subscribe to the book that says if it isn't in our computer we can't align it.

Knowing that I was going to have "professionals" do a 4 wheel alignment, I believe.... can't say for sure, but I can't dismiss my own culpability.... that I did not torque all of the control arms assuming - and this is the problem - that the alignment guy would take care of tightening everything when he did his thing.

So I show up at the shop today, get the car on the rack and Cory, the tech, says, "hey, your got any extra nuts or bolts with you?" The UCA on the rear passenger side was missing the nut and washer. The DS UCA nut was loose and almost off. Disaster was averted, but boy did I feel stupid. Maybe I torqued them, but what are the odds that a bolt torqued to spec would loosen over 3500 miles? So who's fault is it? Mine or the original alignment guy? Whatever. it's fixed now. Note to self: add that to the list of things to check on a regular basis. My sense is that I left the bolts less than torqued to make the job easier for the alignment tech, assuming that he would actually check all that stuff. Apparently, that didn't happen. Still my responsibility, but doesn't say a lot for the place I will leave nameless..

I did a little maintenance and some needed undercarriage cleaning.

1. Changed the differential cover gasket, inspected things, and refilled the pumpkin with Motul 300.
2. Greazed the lower control arms.
3. Cleaned the underside of the chassis.
4. Finally hooked up the Speedo so I'll calibrate that sucker later today.
5. Bumped the initial timing from 10-13 and adjusted the carburetor while bumping the rev-limiter from 5,100 to 6,100 RPM.

I've already done three (3) oil changes since the engine was installed so now I'm truly ready to enjoy the car.

We'll be having a custom aluminum tank built to replace the failing set up which should be a very nice solution.

I am a little late responding, but I had to make a comment. I really like how the front of your seats are straight with the dash; i.e. parallel, instead of with the trans tunnel. Most folks align the seat with the trans tunnel, which makes them cant off to the side, and therefore un-parallel with the dash. It has always messed with my CDO -- that's the proper order for OCD incidentally! ;-o)

I like your placement, and I appreciate you sharing!!

Thanks WIS!!! It was a lot of consternation and measuring as well as researching multiple threads. I also had my wife get in and make sure she could get comfortable with the adjustable seat as well as myself ( She is 5'5" and I am 6'3"). Once I realized I could get away with setting the seat parallel to the dash and have enough space for the body and trans tunnel I committed to it. The install measurements from FFR adjustable seat rails got me very close to where I needed to be.

Did some general chassis maintenance:

Pulled the front shocks and checked the rod ends on the LCA's for bind. They were fine so cleaned and lubed.
Went down 4 clicks on the front SA QA1's. This may be too soft but will give it a try.
Lubed ball joints and UCA pivot shafts.
Lubed sway bar bushings and rod ends, which were dry and causing the bar to stick. Adjusted bar side to side and took out a tiny bit of pre-load, bar is set at full stiff.
Lowered front ride height 1/4" and equalized both front springs.
Lowered rear ride height 1/4", equalized both springs, and then put 2 turns of wedge in the LR. (this usually helps the RF from locking with my 200 lbs. over the LR)
Checked rear sway bar for pre-load and made a small adjustment to equalize side to side.
Cleaned the frame and touched up the paint in a few spots. I think I have most of my fluid leaks now under control.

The car was pounding pretty hard over large bumps so this is what was making me think the front-end was binding. The car is still stiff but I can feel the front suspension working better. The rear 3-link has Mark's earlier Johnny Joint LCA with 250 lb springs and rides well once you get the QA1's dialed in (about 8 clicks from full soft)

Executed my first successful road side repair yesterday. My wife saw the engine temp gauge was pegged while on a drive. I had no radiator hose leaks, but coolant was overflowing the reservoir. At first, thought the thermostat might be stuck closed - but we had already driven way to far for that to be the case really. Finally figured out that the serpentine belt had lost it's tension due to the large allen head bolts that secure the alternator had all backed off just a bit resulting in loose belt tension. Got it adjusted back and tightened, and back on the road. The engine itself never really felt as if it got way overheated in spite of the gauge reading. Bought a case of bottled water to use in the reservoir and got back home OK. Thank goodness I had a tool bag in the trunk - otherwise it would have resulted in flatbed ride #3 on this adventure.

What was the weight

I'm trying to figure that out! It says the gross weight was 2660 but when I look closer the certificate shows 2480 on the rear axle and 180 on the front axle. I had a friend of mine take it there since he has a nice truck and enclosed car hauler and I'm pretty sure he was standing on the front scale. He happens to weigh about 180 lol

So I'm saying 2480lbs with half a tank of gas.

Right after I got on the road over 10 years ago, I kissed an unpainted speed bump with my oil drain plug. It didn't cause any problems, so I let it ride. Last year after my annual oil change, it started weeping. This year, the weep turned into a stream, so off with the old, in with the new. I used a Fel-Pro one piece gasket. Those plastic alignment pins are genius.

At least there were no shiny things in the bottom of the pan.

Now that we're legal we put some more miles on it today although somewhat limited by the temperature here in Texas in August. But, a good chance to test the cooling system and happy to report it never got above 190. Oil pressure was always good, tach spot on, GPS speedo spot on, and the alternator is doing it's thing. Steering is very tight, takes a little getting used to compared to my 100K Tacoma, but it tracks nice and true going down the road.

We've been doing quite a bit of driving around the neighborhood and today was the first time out legal with plates. Barely a half mile from the house we run into a policeman coming out of a side street. He just sat there watching us go by and then went the other way. Ha!

As for what I did today on the Roadster - Married the Engine and Transmission, made some transmission spacers, broke a couple of banjo parts, fixed a zerk fitting, powder coated 1 of the headlight trim rings, powder coated the dead pedal, and fixed the sound deadening/heat shielding in the drivers footbox. Saturday, took the car to its first car show in gel coat ... didn't matter, all eyes on the roadster when I drove in and plenty of folks ready to chat once I got out. The kind of friendly neighborhood thing where plenty of non-owners want to talk ... and lean on the windshield, and try to open the doors. No problem, just a little education involved. And lots of good stories to swap. Met my son there, along with his good friend Shelby ... yep, her Dad's a car guy, and had to take in the show via Facetime.

Handed my son the keys and let him get behind the wheel for the first time. He did fine and had a blast. I think his car has a dent in the floor from him operating his own clutch right after driving the roadster.

Sunday, was driving on the freeway and heard / felt my first detonation through all of the 15+ Sniper tune revisions I've done. Not my best moment. Checked the handheld ... O2 sensor says 35.6 AFR, clearly I have a bad O2 sensor. So detonation makes sense, air / fuel mix was likely far richer than the AFR table called for, and therefore burning faster.

Ordered a new O2 Bosch 17025 (https://www.efisystempro.com/wbo2-sensor-sniper-tbi-554-155) sensor from EFI System Pro. I likely heat-shocked the sensor with moisture in the pipe during warmup (NOT from orientation of the bung placement), or from running rich during initial tuning. Just to be safe, ordered an HBX-1 Bung Extender (https://www.innovatemotorsports.com/heat-sink-bung-extender-hbx-1.html) from Innovate Motorsports to pull the sensor back from the direct exhaust stream.

Back up and running next week, and happy to run open loop until then with a fairly refined fuel table already in place.

So my oldest son and I took it to a car show in all it's gel coat and parting lines glory. We are part of the Mile High Cobra Club and went in as a small group. Despite the upper 90 degree temperatures we had a good time. Lots of questions about the car. Only bad thing is the windshield in the upper drivers side cracked. Just sitting there. The start of the crack does not align with any screws or any defects I can visibly see. So I will order a new one from FFR and check the mounting frame to make sure there's no sharp spots or defects that will cause another one to crack.

out of curiosity, I downloaded a sound level app for the phone. sitting in the backyard it registered about 40db, which is in line with what a neighborhood would typically be. I recognize it is not a calibrated instrument, but it appears to report reasonable sound levels. Anyway, the idle sound level inside the car fluctuated between 69-72 db, which is a bit lower than GasN indicates for their touring pipes (which is what I have). I also have thick sound deadening butyl all over everything. Now I want to use the same app in other cars to see the relative difference, as that will be more meaningful than the absolute (uncalibrated) reading.
