How much oil is in the pan with the engine running?

Does anyone know how much oil typically remains in the pan with a stock oil pump and the engine running?

I am thinking 3.5 - 4 quarts with 1-1.5 quarts circulating around, but would like to know for some calculations I am running.

My experience shows a quart in each head. 5 total, 3 in the pan when running. We've run the stock pan with 6 quarts and a Killer B with 7 with zero issues and it saved a few motors for sure.
