A piece of PVC pipe, the right diameter to fit around the rack, with a slit cut in it so you can slip it over the rack before you put the boot on, is the cheapest option and it works well.

Do the Roadsters' rub as well?

I'm still perplexed as to how we ended up with custom tube frame cars (that aren't even constrained by any rulebook,) that don't fit the wheels they are designed for. I have 205/40-17's on the FFR wheels and they still rub at full lock. They're over a half inch shorter than what they say will fit, which is itself still smaller than any Impreza ever came with. And I've done nothing to increase caster or such. I thought going super small on the tires fixed the problem, but I added in the splash shields and nope! Now they hit on the inside again.

Phil, post some pictures. It is possible that something is not as it should be, as others are not posting with a similar experience.

I'm referring to the contact between the tire and firewall. I guess that wasn't as clear as it could have been.

2 options:

1- wheel spacers to space out the wheels more on the outside. Very efficient, gives a better look to me (on 215s) and does not reduce travel. I figured a 15mm spacer was needed.
2- Ford travel restrictors. They have different thickness and are C-clips you install on the shaft inside the boots.
