I had to chuckle a bit with your heater knob turned to hot. I wasn't chuckling at you, I was chuckling at myself since last Saturday I was tuning up my 55 F100 so I had a remote starter clicker hooked up to the solenoid but it wasn't working. I was getting really frustrated cause everything is brand new (full restorarion) and it just ran when I drove it home about 30 minutes prior to that.
Scratched my head for about 45 minutes checking various things, even changed out the solenoid thinking it died for some reason until I remembered I forgot to turn the ignition key to the run position.
Happens to all of us.

lol yes Jim. I’m glad we can all share these knothead moments lol!
She’s mechanically complete! Took it for a ride down the street today. Then I got to work on more scratching. The pile ready for filler is much bigger than the pile still to scratch and fix issues.

Got it all hung and cleaned. Just gotta finish hanging sheeting in the shop. And maybe 1 more ipa wipe down.

Little story:
So I got in it yesterday and went to take it down the street. I did some ecu tuning to it recently. It ain’t acted right since. But it ain’t been stupid.
Anyway, I eased out the shop about even with them vines on the left. Then I touched the throttle. Sum***** went to prolly about 50% open and didn’t close when I let off. WWWAAAAHHHHH! I threw it in neutral and slammed the brakes. Left 2 10 ft long skid marks from front tires locking up and 1 2ft long skid mark in my drawers.

Dang, I'm glad that ended "well". Luckily most of us are paranoid the first few drives, but.. wow.

Pretty sure this was the 1st tune that didn’t run right. I have another that might be the right one. That said, I’m just ditching the whole thing and starting over. My brother is running now. Just finished up a twin turbo 1500 whp gen 2. We gonna take a crack at it. He has the initial one ready which is hopefully safe. For the motor and me lol.

Finally got it primed. After 4 trips to the paint sroee (1 wrong and 1 bad gallon and they didn’t have the replacements, had to order). 3 good heavy coats of evercoat featherfill.
Now, just a million more pinholes to fill and guide coat then start blocking! Won’t start till after thanksgiving though.

Blocking done! Life slowing me down. Now, I gotta finish healing hernia repair then get some urethane on it hopefully by the end of March (around some OT at work too).

Finally all healed up and can move and stretch and pick stuff up again. Yay!
Spent the morning cleaning parts and sprayed the 2k urethane (jp202). Gonna let it cure till prolly Wednesday and start dry blocking then wet sanding it.

After a little overtime and life, finally got the urethane wet sanded. Hopefully get sealer on later this week. Or next. Wife’s mom passed and another guy at works grandma so between my family and covering for him, it might have to wait till next week.

Sealer is on! Sanding with 800 next. Then, gotta get a few things and it’ll be time to turn it yellow.

Kinda took the summer off from car building. Spent it more with the kids and swimming. Ain’t had a lot to do before it’s ready for the body so no since sweating that bad.
Got the hood latch and actuator done today!

Not a critique, just a concern/question for caution sake, I'm seeing a couple browning/burn marks on the white wire directly behind the latch on the other side of the firewall (2nd pic), are those just from a soldering iron getting to close to the insulation on the white wire, or is there something going on causing that insulation to char?
Again, not a critique, it's a beautiful build, just making sure it stays a beautiful build.

This is a really nice build! It's going to be a handful with that Whipple!

Jim, I never take much as a critique. Half the reason I post is for advice. And I appreciate you mentioning that. That is one of the AC systems grounds and it came out of the box like that. Looks like solder or iron, exactly like you say, got a little too close to it. Now that you mention it, I might trim that back so the insulation so it doesn’t get brittle and come apart. That would be a hard one to get to to repair later on!

Thank you sir! Yes, waiting on my brother to get some time to tune a little more, and fix a torque table jumping issue I’m having, but below 3k, with that 6r80 1st gear, it’s quite responsive

Up on stands today. Finishing up a couple things on the chassis. E brake cables, trunk popper wire, and I gotta loom the +12v’s to the starter and coyote PDB. I think that’s it. Hopefully, I’ll get it painted the week or two after thanksgiving. I took a month off so I should be able to do it without being in a hurry cause I have to get back to work. Plus I can get it painted, cut and buffed within a week and a half or so so the clear ain’t hard as woodpecker lips from sitting a month.

I go back to work tomorrow after a month off. I got a lot done, but 2 doors short of finished with polishing. Next step is paint the back side of body, fit tail lights then think about getting the body on!

That was a candidate for color. Then I found this one. Hard to see in pics but it has metallic and a ton of pearl in the base coat. Gives it a real neat look, almost candy but not quite.

A little more done! Hood is just sitting on it to get radiator in right place. Waiting on hinge parts to get powder coated.
Door and nose cone on. Door needs a touch more work, maybe. Gotta get the bumpers in the right place first. Got too hot for me today.

I guess there was some paint boogers holding the sliding parts together. When I was trying to ease it up to line it up, it jumped on me. Dammit. Lesson learned: make sure moving parts move before getting close to paint. Guess I’ll get the airbrush out when I get it all together.

Do you need to increase the clearance, or was it just bubbles in the paint? In either case, sorry you have to do extra work. The car was looking so good!

It was a clearance issue. It just moved farther than I intended when adjusting. It’s not bad. I’ll be able to airbrush it and make it almost go away.
Got both doors working about right now and the windscreen on!
