For those using the VCP trailing arms, Do you need to bend the frame ears or grind down the spacers on the joint the get them to fit correctly? as is, I would need to bend the frame ear out quite a bit to fit... the stock trailing arms fit without need to bend the ears.
Also seem that I need to put quite a bit of stress on the trailing arms in order to pull it in place to even line it up with the ears on the frame?

Try the other way around and you'll need to put stress on the spindle end. Something is not aligned, I think it's the ears on the trailing arm itself.
I did not need to grind the spacers.

Thanks franks, on the frame side with the spacers in the joint they still do not come close to fitting in the frame ear, regardless of being attached on the other end. i took a quick snapshot with the other arm, calipers say i am .195 of an inch to wide...
the photo doesn't show it as well as in person...

Oh that yeah I had that. Took a crow bar and widened the ears.
I saw pic 5 on your photobucket, I have that alignment stress issue as well. Decided to live with it.

The ears on the frame get welded differently and vary the width. You can spread the ears or trim one spacer. Put the arm on the spindle first then in the front. This preloads the bushing in the spindle.

Thanks Wayne. Based on the fact that the tension load the bushing would it make sense to trim the outer spacer?

Interesting that this came up. In the roadster forum there is a thread on recommended tools. Someone recommended the purchasing of some threaded rod and bolts to make a spreader for this very problem.

I would see how much wheel clearance you have, if you need more then trim the inner.

On the 818 I just give the outer ear a love tap with a dead blow and problem solved.
