I need a but of advice from the experts (y'all) again. I have the steering column installed in the lower mounting holes and the U-joint extended for maximum stretch.

The column is about half and inch short of properly connecting with the steering rack. Is this a common problem? Is there something I may have overlooked?

It seems like it would be really easy to remedy this by drilling mounting holes an inch lower for the column. I just wanted to check with you guys if this is a known issue.

Thanks Nick

I have not seen anyone have that problem. I mounted my column in the holes closer to the driver and it bolted up to the rack fine. What's your donor?

The steering column and rack are from and '06 WRX. That being said it was a palette prepackaged deal from PMP auto.

Second on the collapsed column, or it's the wrong year coupler.

Third on the collapsed column. Good news is you can probably use this to your advantage and take the opportunity to mount your column a bit further away from the driver's seat (several of us have done this). Rori (user name on this forum) made and sold (for a while) a machined aluminum plate to facilitate re-bolting the column further towards the dash. This would probably solve your shortcoming. You might even have to collapse it a bit further. Easy plate to make yourself.

Search Rori and read his thread.
