View Full Version : AC Dryer and radiator overflow tank mount locations

With my mechanical fuel pump on my SBC, I don't have much room where the manual says to mount the dryer (bottom front passenger side behind the suspension), so I wanted to ask everyone where they have mounted theirs. Any suggestions on alternative locations?

The other question I have is regarding the overflow tank for the radiator, the mounting bracket (alongside the radiator) seems to make it clash directly with the suspension and radiator brackets, where has everyone mounted theirs? Ill dig up some pictures of what I am talking about.

Thanks for the help,

Darth

Bump. I'm having same problem fitting the overflow on the radiator. And I don't want it on the firewall.

A good place for the dryer is on the passenger side firewall. This is Vintage Air mini genII. I managed to feed the high pressure hose through a firewall opening that also allows wrench access to the suction hose. No firewall feed though fitting is needed. I later changed the hose routed to the dryer to a stainless steel braided AC hose. They are pricey, but with the smaller diameter, the are easier to route and look so much better than rubber hose.

If you put on fire wall use a heat shield if by manifold.

I like that solution for the overflow. Does your upper control arm have plenty clearance? Looks close close.

I've found a couple ways people have done it to give me a good start to getting it in now. Thanks y'all.

I ended up with the dryer on the passenger side firewall (ran the hoses along the frame) and the overflow tank tucked in between the driver side radiator mount bracket and the radiator itself. The bracket requires modification, but if you mount the tabs in line with the tabs on the radiator (instead of angled like the bracket makes it) it works fairly well.

Plenty of room on the UCA 5/8", at full compression. It is the angle of the photo that makes it look close.

Thanks y'all. I'll attempt a mount like Wallace and earth.
