From the wheel to the joint - like this? From the floor to tip of the top of the steel rod. 2002 Impreza according to eBay seller. 35.75". I don't think this was compressed from original but can't guarantee it.

Stock length is a bit long for some folks taste, so take that into consideration. Wheel seems too far away from dash. Search Rori and his shortened steering column mounting block.
