For 6 years I have been chasing aftermarket companies to see if they can run this engine to no avail. Now, some companies can and some companies, Maybe, can. Does anybody know of companies that absolutely do have computers and harnesses that work with this engine? Tried and proven? That read the factory cam and crank sensors? That supplies a harness that plugs into the OEM engine harness connectors? I'd like to get all the info in one place for everybody's sake. (Mostly Mine!!!)
Thanks,
Jack

There are a number of aftermarket ECU's that will work infinity, AEM, megasquirt, electromotive,to name a few .
Wayne sells a number of these, There are a number of threads were ECU's are discussed, though it takes some digging to find the specific answers your looking for.

Don't forget about Haltech ecus. That's what the boys on Street Outlaws are using.

Oh ya, that's probably the one I'll be going with. There's so many choices that it can be overwhelming trying to decide which direction to go. :p

They offer a plug_n_play unit for those using the factory wire harness. I chose a stand alone unit and premium wire harness with 4 individual pyrometers. The whole kit was $2500 plus a few bucks for shipping. Uses subie sensors. I feel that one would spend nearly half that much for the add one, then still have plenty more work thinning out the subie wire harness. Jmho.

This is what I'm talking about. maybe things have changed but they told me their 2000 would work but it didn't read the cam and crank sensors. Their solution was for me to make My engine fit Their computer! That's why I'm looking for Proven systems that Do read the OEM sensors.

Over the last 6 years I have contacted all those companies and more except Electromotive and they said they absolutely Could Not run these engines. That's why I'm looking for input from those who have Used a computer on their engines and it has worked.

If Wayne has time for me I will probably use him. I just want to create a list in one location so others don't have to spend 6 years finding a standalone company that actually Can run these engines. A Proven product.

Ok. I went to the first site you provided and I've been there before. It was mentioned on that site that the factory OEM ECU is wonderful and can be made to work using Romraider. Then why does Brian at iwire say that you can't reprogram the OEM ECU because of this Canbus business? It needs a Black Box created to trick the ECU into thinking it is in the original car.
Can the OEM ECU be reprogrammed using Romraider software to work in a standalone configuration in the EZ30/36R engines??? What factory or aftermarket pieces are needed to accomplish this? If it can, this is the $Obvious$ way to go! Who has taken this from a theory and actually done it? Are there videos that show the OEM ECU attached to the engine while it is running?
I have Heard a lot in the past 6 years and have not seen actual proof. I am shell shocked hearing things can be done only to find out it is only a theory or there are a number of Other things that have to be done to make it work. If Romraider or Opensource can make the EZ30R OEM ECU engines run, I'd like to see a step by step plan and the end result in a video. A proven product.

I preface my comments first to note that I am not that familiar with the Subaru engines nor the OEM ECU. But if you decide to go the way of a standalone ECU, I can say that the AEM Infinity is a fantastic product. I am familiar with it and it will control this engine. It will read the factory crank and cam sensors. I've attached the Cam/Crank wizard screenshot to show. In fact, AEM even provides for a "base" calibration/tune file for this engine. However, I don't believe that AEM has a harness for this application. I would check with Boomslang Fabrication as they make ECU harnesses to adapt Subaru engines to the AEM Infinity. If your specific application is not listed, I would call them as they can make just about any custom harness. Here is the link. https://www.boomslang.com/aem-infinity-series-5.php
Good luck with your research.
