View Full Version : Custom Clutch Slave Cylinder Hose?

Anybody else out there think that FF's instructions for the clutch hard line running the last 1.5' unsupported to the slave cylinder hose is pretty ridiculous? Seems like a lovely recipe for metal fatigue leading to an engine fire when the hydraulic fluid finds those hot headers.
I'm thinking of running my hard line up the left rear upright, already behind the exhaust, then having a custom longer hose made. Anybody tried this or something similar?

I make a kit just for this. Unfortunately my web site is down at the moment. Cost is $65.00 plus shipping. Hope to have the web site up soon

Mike Everson makes a flexible clutch line kit for around $65. For some reason his website is down right now (www.replicaparts.com) but you could try emailing him at katam25@comcast.net.

EDIT: Looks like Mike beat me to it.

You can get SS line from jegs starting at $10. They have it in just about any size you want. Here is how I routed my line.

The way I routed it runs it so the line doesn't have to be disconnected if you need to do an engine service.

I routed mine down the side and then used Mike's kit so that if the engine has to be pulled the slave can be moved to the side without disconnecting any fluid lines.

Thanks, all. A quick trip to Earl's Indy and $23 later produced this. Problem solved.

BTW, what's the purpose of the intermediate cylinder this hose attaches to which then connects to the actual slave cylinder?

Your slave cylinder looks a bit different than mine (I have an 02). I think on the later models they implemented a fluid damper on the slave cylinders to help reduce sudden clutch engagement.

The rock auto catalog showed that the banjo and female ends are 10mm is that correct? And how long of a hose are you using?
