So I just ordered my kit a couple days ago and someone had made mention of the heat inside the car on the track. then I started thinking of not only heat but the smell and the many other risks that would come along with the engine and passenger compartment not being separated, all the pics I can find online dont really show any sort of firewall above where the seat belts would mount

Is there anything to keep driver compartment and engine compartment separate?

Yes, there is a bulkhead with a somewhat smallish glass window. I doubt you would want to risk backing the car up solely b the rearward view provided b it though.

I'm not using the FFR provided fuel tank either, because I can't abide with the smell of gas vapors. Dude can't abide.

You have any pics? What kind of headroom is there for a guy that's 5'9" and wearing a helmet

Have no pics at this time. I've put my seats in and as far as I can tell, head room can be had by using some sort of racing seat with a thin padded cover. My seats are sparco 333 and are too bulky to allow for a helmet inside the coupe. Without headgear there is plenty of headroom. I have added a front roll bar in my car with 2 tubes connecting from top of windshield bar to existing roll bar. That's why I say not enough room for headgear with my bulky(sort of) seats.

This is a problem? Why? Is the boyd tank the solution?

Just come by my place. Mines pretty much finished outside of prepping for paint and a couple misc imterior odds and ends. You can bring a helmet and sit in my car. I'm 5'10" 175 and I fit well. I have a long torso and legs. The old tank doesn't vent well and had a few issues with leaking. Boyd is a good solution to add more legroom and is a better product to begin with.

Definitely take a trip over to see 07FIREBLADE's build, it will answer a bunch of questions for you. I'm building an S open top and at the HB show I spent quite a bit of time looking at things on his car which gave me ideas and answered questions. I think one of the best things to do before or even during the build of one of these cars is to see one in person.

Yeah gonna make a trip over and check his out for sure, My biggest concern is head room with a helmet and the heat and fumes that will be in the coupe on the track. As well as the safety aspect of having the engine so close to the cockpit with nothing between the 2
