Anyone have thoughts on how far up I need to cut this panel to avoid rubbing?

it's actually about an inch up, the photo doesn't show very well. Both sides, same issue

I notched the aluminum.

I notched the aluminum.

The question is how far to make sure that it doesn't rub? I'd like to do this once...

Hi Dan
I didn't install wheel wells.
Shock travel is about 11 to 15"
So if the rub point is in the middle of the upper trailing arm. The notch would be 2" above full droop.

Dan, I can't tell from you photo but I think you might have the panel installed wrong. Is it rotated fully rearward so it extends down to the body edge? Is it maybe reversed left-to-right? It looks to me like the straight edge of the aluminum panel in your photo is the rear edge that would be behind the wheel, not bumping the control arm.

No Pete, the rearward side of that panel has a square cutout for the upper transverse link, more interference if it was installed that way

Dan, this photo shows my right rear wheel well and the aluminum panel is not near the upper rear trailing arm at all. I think since we both have very early chassis numbers, FFR was making running changes so your wheel well panels are different from mine. I had to cut a notch for the flexible brake line but not for the trailing arm.

Pete, that's at full droop, I have mine set at 4.5 inch ride height and it has a total of 13 miles on it, quite a bit of that on a dyno. I powder coated the trailing arm and lateral link black. The aluminum over that trailing link rubs the link. TrickyPete lives 20 miles away his rubs too and he has some interference with the square cutout at the upper transverse link. His kit's serial # is over 250 so it has nothing to do with the chassis number.

I was able to run my brake cable so it doesn't have an issueI'll just cut a 1/2 inch up for clearance. I was just hoping someone else could tell me how much to cut vs this long discussion... ;)
