Just curious if anyone has thought about a gated shifter ?
I have always loved the look on the Ferrari's, and have thought about this for a while.

I've considered the possibilities, but if you notice, the Ferrari shifter shaft is quite dainty, allowing for a reasonable width of the gate slots. Also, the throw would need to be quite large unless the gate is located a good distance from the pivot point. Could be done, but might look a little clunky.

The inside of the transmission is basically gated.
In a fast shift from 2nd to 3rd you just push up an to the right in one motion. The would be much slower with gated shifter.
With the cable controlled shifter in might be tricky to keep the cables adjusted perfectly.
