I have two questions regarding the aluminum LCAs on our cars.

First- is the manual wrong here? (R supplemental information, page 34)

I'm almost certain it started out with the larger flat part touching the LCA (like the bottom pic) and you rotate it to have the smaller flat part on the LCA (upper pic). Are these backwards?

Second- Combining the flipped bushing (hurricane bracket 180* [Figure 2, below]), the bushing carrier [Figure 1], and making a spacer (some say 4mm is the sweet spot), you're changing a lot. Is there a "too much caster" point? Or do we just want to extract as much as we can? If so, a larger spacer would surely be desired (with longer bolt to accommodate, of course)

I just flipped the stud which allows a touch over 6* positive caster @ 2.5* camber on my car.

I had 3.5* caster on my stamped steel control arms. Maybe just flipping the bracket will be enough?

What is nice we do have some options available to get to the numbers we want.

The big difference in bushing rotation is tire clearance to the fire wall. The squiggle down gives you the most.

There's not a 'too much caster' figure for alignments in general, as long as you've got clearance. The result of a lot of caster is increased difficulty in steering, especially at lower speeds, in exchange for better high speed stability. Most of your exotic cars run a whole lot of caster. The biggest issue with caster is to have them even from side to side, with up to a half degree higher on the passenger side (if you'd like to compensate for road crown). You might keep yours even, because RACECAR. ;)
