What are the effects of the harness bar on the seating position, and do you need one?

I am building an 818c/s. I am a tall guy 6'4". I fit in the car, but in my particular build i am trying to maximize leg room (every quarter of an inch counts). I was gifted the harness bar for Christmas so I was doing some research on seating and harness attachment. I have the following questions:

Is the harness bar a must have or is the square tube of the frame just as good and you don't have the extra bulk, cost, and weight of the harness bar?

Does the harness bar make you have to push the seat forward to fit them in? Is mounting the harness bar on the engine side of the frame possible or does it interfere?

Can you recommend a space maximizing and good seat? Are the Kirky ones the way to go and are the holes positioned at the right place for the harness bar?

Thanks for the info

Welcome, Nick.

Lots of threads about this.
Check here: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?19779-Shoulder-harness-on-square-Frame

short version: yes, worth it IMO/mount on rear side is possible with minor mods/ I don't like kirkeys for longer rides, composite shell seats (not steel tube- the cheap ones) are nicest IMO. There are threads in the interior area on seats also.
