None of us are using the factory fuel temp sensor. What are the rest of you doing for tuning purposes? Disregarding that table and tuning to the best of your ability or wiring in a resistor that will then fool the computer, but ultimately provide erroneous information, which is where we are now without a sensory providing input.

The tuner had 3 options:
A - Tune without the temp sensory input, full throttle will still be fine but partial throttle would be affected and ultimately it will run rich to compensate for the lack of that information.
B - Wire the sensor back in - costly.
C - Wire in a resistor at the ecu to fool the computer - really no different than option A, but no permanent ecu code.

Also - will the lack of this sensor affect the car going into closed loop? At this time they're having trouble getting my car to go into closed loop. They're not sure if this CEL is preventing the car from doing so.

Any input ASAP is very helpful as my car will be on the dyno until tomorrow morning before they're finished with it.

I am using the fuel temp sensor.
The new FFR tank users with have the fuel temp sensor also.

If you think finding a way to put the sensor in the original tank or the boyd tank is to expensive. I would just glue the sensor to the outside of the tank near the bottom. The metal tank will be close to the fuel temp.

I had no idea the fuel temp sensor was used as input for fuel correction, are you sticking with the MAF or going speed density? If this sensor is like the other temp sensors in the car, then it's most likely a 2.5 kohm thermistor so it could be replaced with a resistor (2.5 kohm would fool the ecu into thinking the fuel is at 68 degrees F).

This would be a simple way of seeing if it's affecting closed loop fuel operation. I thought this sensor was only used for emissions reasons.

On the K818S I attached the fuel temp sensor to the outside of the tank. I made sure it would get good conductivity for a close to accurate temp. Or you can just put in a resister middle of the road as well.

I'm using the original tank with iwire harness. How do I wire the sensor into my set up?

Fyi, I'm using the maf. This information is used for fuel density calculation.

The resistor doesn't seem like a good solution as then it's just giving the ecu dummy information as well. Might as well just leave it as is.

I have a 2.0l and I don't see any reference to the Fuel Temp Sensor in any of the maps in Access Port Race. I wonder if the 2.0l uses it for fuel mixture or not. When I looked it up some time last year, it seemed that the Fuel Temp Sensor for the 2.0l was only used to determine if the fuel temperature was in the proper range to run the evaporative emissions tests.

I'm far from an expert, so can anyone verify whether or not the 2.0l uses the fuel temp sensor for mixture adjustment?

I also see no reference to anything being compensated by fuel temp in the 06 WRX tables, only calibration of the sensor itself.

My car does not have one installed (06) and the tuner never even brought it up as an issue.

Chad - Did you use speed density or maf?

Ok, same here. My tuner referred to fuel density. I'm not familiar enough with tuning to explain it to you all thoroughly.

I dropped the fuel temp sensor off with them today. We'll see if wiring it in corrects the cars inability to go into closed loop.

I have no fuel temp sensor and it hasn't been an issue whatsoever. I tuned the car with MAF when I was using open source. I switched to speed density with the Cobb AP and Phatron didn't say a thing about it being missing.

I would agree with this and the more info we are getting it sounds like an issue specific to the car and not to the fuel temp sensor. Hopefully we'll have some more details soon.
