Does anyone have a steering wheel they won't be using? My boy decided to try removing the steering wheel by removing the emblem on front--that will teach me to leave him alone with a screwdriver (: Of course, the steering wheel must be removed by other means. Now mine looks like this...

I can only figure out that the entire wheel needs to be replaced since they don't sell just the center disk. Any ideas?

I don't plan to re-use the momo steering wheel from my 2002 WRX donor. Though I'm located in CA, not sure how much the shipping will be.

Actually what you need is the air bag not he wheel.

I have an 02 momo wheel but I think it's a touch bent. I'm in NY. Still has an airbag in it, so I don't know if I can ship it

I suppose I do need the airbag only. That should be significantly cheaper to ship.

I have an airbag off my 07 that I won't be using. I'm also going to be in Memphis on Memorial day weekend.

Have you thought about just gluing the emblem back on?

I thought about it yes. BUT, after the screwdriver and pliers that thing was bent all to hell and gone. He REALLY wanted to get it off. haha...

Isn't the '07 steering wheel 3 spoke? I can't imagine that airbag would fit my wheel, but I could try to get the emblem off without hurting it too badly. Maybe some fishing line behind it to pry it loose from the glue?

Just glue on a disc of aluminum painted or powder coated and laser in a new custom logo or even use a sticker

Yeah I think it's a three spoke. I can't remember though. Would have to take a look tonight.

It just may be illegal to ship an air-bag since it is an explosive device.

Well, if that is the case, it may be a it more difficult. I'm sure there would be a way considering one can ship ammo as long as it is declared.

if I can get someone to part with just the logo, that would make everything easier.

When recycling an air bag inflator, air bag module, or seat-belt pretensioner, “Recycled” must be listed on the shipping paper after the basic description.

Doesn't seem to mention any issues with shipping "recycled" airbags as long as they are shipped ground and labeled... Just don't start creating and shipping your own airbag designs without the proper approval/testing. That would lead to trouble rather quickly.

The Subaru wheel is a bit large in the 818, so I'd consider installing a smaller aftermarket wheel. If you want to keep the OEM wheel, then like Dan said, look at this as an opportunity to personalize! I made center caps for my XXR wheels by printing the FFR logo to the right size on vinyl stickers and then encapsulating it with an acrylic casting agent, sanding it into a dome and polishing. It was a lot of work just for centercaps, but I think they turned out well, like an OEM badge. You could do the same on your steering wheel with any image/logo you want.

Man, you guys love spending other people's money huh? That is the easiest way I suppose!! :D

I'll have to rethink some things here.

When you say the wheel is big, you mean it just looks out of place? Also, Is it possible to add cruise control if you put an aftermarket wheel in? Since this is going to be a street car, I want to make sure the lead in my foot doesn't always get the best of me.

Meatball, I suggest you not spend money and time on the donor steering wheel now but wait to see what you want. Many of us have trashed the donor wheel for smaller or cooler wheels. I think all of us have trashed or sold the steering wheel air bag. Several guys, including me, have taken the cruise control switch out of the donor wheel and mounted it to the steering column so we could use another steering wheel and keep the cruise control. You can use the donor wheel for the go-kart and then decide.

Pete and I both installed aftermarket wheels and retained the cruise. Details in our threads

And yes we are all here to help you with project creep, happens to all of us

I think I will wait on making a decision to purchase anything drastic. Hopefully at some point I will have the experience to pay it forward down the road. This forum is a both a blessing and a curse...the help on here is unparalleled but your "project creep"...I haven't the words. haha;)
