$73,500 sounds a bit optimistic.

They said that when I advertised it for $98,000 when I sold it. And I proved them wrong. No one bit and then I dropped it to $68,000 and then I had 2 people trying to outbid each other and it was off to the races.

So what happened? Did they come to their senses :)

Depends on how you look at it. We were ecstatic with the outcome. We did not even want to sell it so soon. We were only testing the waters, but there came a point we would have been fools to not let it go, Hence I am building another one and the only thing different will be seat tracks added so Denise can safely drive it.

I stand corrected. Well done!

To me this is the wierdest part of this hobby. Yes a Roadster can be built for less, but only if you count labor as free. For the hard parts in that car and how it's optioned, that's actually pretty cheap and realistically that price includes lots of free labor hours. I'm looking at my much simpler build plan and my projections are in the $35K range not counting labor. My boss bills me out to clients at a ridiculous lawerly wage so honestly the car will be worth way more than $35K. Even if I value my labor at $10 an hour it still will put the car in the $40k range, and who building a roadster values their time at $10 an hour? I certainly do not.

This particular car is at least $50 to $60k in parts and body work.... so the assembly in essence was practically free. I figure the engine alone has to be in the $20-$25k range, which is why I'm going to stay far away from FE big blocks.

How in the world did you get Shelby to sign the glove compartment? I thought he hated replica Cobras.

Pretty common. If you saw him at a car show he would sign anything you brought for a $ donation to his charity. You can still get his signature on anything (electronic copy, but sure looks real) by sending it to Shelby American, for a price.

I saw that car in person. It has a lot of high end parts on it. Nice car.
