OK, seems like I did not get a MAF with my engine, I assume you can buy the tube with element and it goes right before the air cleaner (like most American iron cars with fuel injection) ? I assume also that I should be able to use an USDM version with my JDM engine ?

I'd recommend the Cobb intake; it has a fitting for the MAF, and you can then just buy a new/used MAF. The Cobb has a conical filter element and doesn't mess with the tune like some CAI's.

Hi FFRSpec,
I had the same problem. See my previous post.

I bought the Cobb and a new Denso MAF from RockAuto.
Metalmaker and others said that the Cobb is the best for this engine, and I just didn't want to inherit someoneelses problem MAF.
So far, it started right up and idles nice......still working on getting the coolant properly burped.

Just to chime in. I put a cobb intake and custom exhaust on my customers K818S build. While it did start up and idled perfect, I notice a lean condition on full throttle applications. Steady throttle depressing it seems fine. No doubt some additional tuning will be needed IMO.

What fuel pump are you using? Often a free flowing exhaust and intake will require you to upgrade the fuel pump over the stock model. I had to go to a high flow Walbro pump when I put an aftermarket exhaust and Cobb intake on my donor WRX (back when my son and I were racing it), otherwise we were always starved for fuel at wide open throttle, which can be very bad.

What are you using to measure the lean condition?
