I went to my local Ford dealer today to buy Ford Racing crate motor the 427 based on the new BOSS 351 block. It is offered with a front or rear sump, which would be correct for a FFR Mk4 build? Also does the Tremec T-56 6 speed work with the FFR MK4 and if not the Tremec 5 speed? Sorry Ive been Mopar forever but am now crossing over to Ford blue...
Thanks

The T56 will work only if you have an IRS setup, otherwise the driveshaft would be too short.
The sump doesn't matter. There's not a crossmember below the engine. I myself prefer the rear sump because on hard acceleration all the oil goes to the rear of the engine.

That clears up the sump issue thanks Lex. I wanted to but won`t be going with IRS because it`s not offered for Canadian builds as a base option so I guess I`ll use the Tremco 5 speed, thanks for the help Bill.
More question to follow......

The sump doesn;t really mayter, because there's no crossmember. But, the rear sump is rally a dual sump, since th oil pump is in the front. I'm not real keen on that set up. I prefer the front sump.

The drive shaft will not be too short with a T56. I don't know where these things come from. The simple fact of the matter is that you need a longer driveshaft with a T56. I have a T56 in my roadster and the FFR supplied driveshaft was too short. Now it is true that the mount point for the cross member is farther back but this is more than compensated by the fact that both the TKO600 and T5 have a much longer input shaft Here's a side by side comparison:
