Just seeing if it went in ok and able to use your male axles.

I put one in a female axle transmission. I didn't have to do anything but swap over to the larger seals and use male inners. It's installed in the car, but I haven't started it yet.

Did you install it yourself or have a shop do it?

I did it.

I had a shop put one in my 2005 5MT. It's not installed in the 818 yet because I don't have the frame yet, but the shop didn't make any comments about it being any different than replacing the standard diff so I am wishing for the best when I install it.

Yes we have installed a couple of these now. No issues with installation at all. Went right in.

Hi guys I am getting ready to install the quaif differential. I am looking for some technical manual on the back lash and bolt torque specs, it is not German so "goot in tite". Will not be good enough. Does any body have the manual for overhaul? Thanks guys!!

You'd need the factory repair manual. You can get this free on google by searching for it, and there is also a forum member here who has them all and will send to you if you PM him. Just search for "factory repair manual".

Anyone using the Subaru Helical Front LSD for the 5MT; RST-1903 ?

Yep. Zach (Fate066) built mine for 818S #80 and it's been up and running perfect now. No chatter, no leaks, no problems. FWIW we put the stub shafts in and used female inners.

Just to make it clear, can someone confirm or clarify:

The Quiafe QDH1Y is for a 5 speed older style tranny that has integrated male stubs and requires female axles. $1,227

The Quaife QDH3Y is normally listed for the STI and Legacy 6 speed, but will work in a later 5 Speed female tranny and male axles. $765

Am I correct?

Yes

Contact Eric at The Race Line he had better prices

I have the 1Y in my transaxle

I have the 3Y. Fits great in the 5MT. It comes with a spacer that is used if you install it in a 6MT.

I am in the process of installing the Quaife 3Yi in a 2005 WRX 5Mt TY 754 VZ6AA
the disassembly was fairly straight forward, following the FFR book as far as the center differential, then followed a "ken Gilbert" PDF
http://ken-gilbert.com/wrx/mans/99-01%20impreza%20service%20manuals/Transmission%20and%20Differential.pdf

Then set the backlash to the specs on my 2005 5Mt documents

Look at this race, it has the same part number as the bearing and comes complete from napa SKF.32954

I froze the differential in the freezer and heated the bearings with a heat gun, the bearings dropped into place very easily!

Does anything look out of place in this picture?32991

Nope.
Looks like you have everything you need to put a gearbox back together and into the chassis with a few friends. Burgers to eat, Ice for the Drinks and frozen beans to put on somebody's foot when they kick an axle stand or drop something on it. Looks like the only thing you're missing is the friends. I'm sure when they see the photo they will be around in no time.

Okay a couple weeks later and the transmission is back together with the Quaife installed, every thing went well and it looks good inside. Followed the Gilbert manuals on dis assembly and reassembly. When putting the locking collar on to make it 2wd there was an extra washer underneath the spline and thrust washer that needed to be removed to get the nut and washer back on. See picture.the tough part was getting the dial indicator on the hypoid gear to set backlash. You need a "test indicator" instrument which uses a finger actuator and not a dial indicator which measure linear motion, to tough to get the dial indicator perpendicular to the motion of the gear.
