Hi Guys

Was lucky enough to purchase the Wilwood Sema 818 a while back and are just changing out the engine to a '12 2.5 turbo.
Due to canbus on the '12 decided to fi up as much of the newer donor as I could so fitted in the '12 dash, steering column pedals and whilst I was there fitted up the vacuum booster as well.
The car already had the Wildwood 6 pots up front and 4 pots at the back so I'm starting to question the decision to fit the booster.
Anyone running the booster on their 818 or any thoughts if Ive done the wrong thing fitting up the brake booster. This one is just for street use and it already had the proportioning valve installed to dial down the fronts?
Given the different weight balance on the 818 to WRX should I be ok to dial in/out the balance? With the bigger brakes and what I'm assuming will be a bias to the fronts in the booster, are the brakes going to be too strong (touchy) up front?? Any thoughts.
Cheers
Chris

The Green CF car... nice!

I'm not driving mine yet, but it's been reported that one of the early FFR test mules had power brakes and was too touchy, which is why they instruct to remove the booster and re-drill the hole for the pushrod to give a bit more mechanical advantage on the MC. With even bigger brakes up front and vacuum assist, I would expect it to exacerbate the situation.

I do not have a booster on mine and see no need for one. I think it would be overkill IMO.

Chris,
I believe you will not be allowed to run the adjustable proportioning valve on your car in Australia, also the Wilwoods and Subaru booster will have to be signed off by your engineer or your engineer will require that somebody specialising in brake system design and modifications sign it off. Are you trying to run the ABS as well? that will change the design a bit also.

IMHO I would have left the booster off. You could ask the guys that have finished their cars how good/bad the brakes are, or ask Wayne from VCP if it needs the booster as I believe he tested both the 818S and 818R prototypes.

Its sounds like your rebuilding the majority of the car, wouldn't it have been cheaper to just import the kit and build it from scratch?

Good luck with the engineers.

post some photo's of your cars when you get the chance as I'm sure a few people would like to see some photo's of the Right hand drive cars especially as this was the first RHD 818 completed.
