It is for the purge solenoid for the carbon canister. Most of the 818 guys eliminated it.

Remove it and the solenoid it connects to and plug the manifold. The manfiold fittings are all BSPT, not NPT. NPT will fit, but won't seal.

The other end of the hose connects to the charcoal canister than vents the gas tank on the donor car. I'm assuming you ditched all of that too.

So are most guys not running the charcoal canister then. Don't you need it so the tank doesn't vent to atmosphere and your garage doesn't smell like fumes?

If you do run a charchoal canister you just use the FFR provided vent on top of the gas tank. The Subaru system uses a complex series of valves to vent to the charcoal and then burn the fumes later. If it's always open though you'll collapse your gas tank.

I was also wondering about the third line, but after removing my evaporative emmisions solenoid and lines, I realized what it was for. I would also like to avoid gasoline smells in the garage (even though it smells like... victory!). Would a simple charcoal canister hooked up to the tank vent, be enough to absorb the majority of odors? I believe it's been discussed before, what's a nice, clean simple solution for this?

Can you elaborate on the collapsing of the gas tank?

Yikes! Collapse the tank? Does the third fuel connection on the engine pull a vacuum? I have just connected it to the charcoal canister (Miata) that I've also got connected to the gas tank vent. But, if it pulls a big vacuum will it suck fuel into the canister? I have not started the engine yet.
