I have decided to incorporate the donor car ABS system on my 818S. Hope I don't regret the decision, as it requires a lot of additional/custom work. Anyway - anyone know if the location of the ABS pump is a critical issue? I am thinking of mounting it down low, aft of the battery box. Also, although the pump clearly identifies the four output lines, it does not identify which of the two input lines is for the forward verticle outlet on the master cylinder, and which is for the aft horizontal outlet. Anybody know?

The port marked "1" is for the Primary line, which is the master port closest to the brake pedal, thus "primary". The port marked "2" is for the line from the . . . can you guess? . . . the master cylinder Secondary, the port furthest from the brake pedal.

Thanks AZ Pete. So then - MC 1 and MC 2 on top of the pump are from the master cylinder. And outlets RR and RL are on the side?

Yes, MC1 is for the line from the master cylinder primary port (closest to brake pedal); MC2 for the master cylinder secondary line; FR=front right; RL=rear left; RR=rear right; FL=front left. Be sure to place a piece of tape over all the ports on the ABS module until you are ready to install a line to prevent stuff from getting in there. Then, mark the ports on the tape so you'll see them clearly as you bend & flare tubing.

I modified the OE ABS mounting bracket, along with a steel bracket I found at Ace Hardware, to mount my ABS module on the firewall but I can't think of any reason you shouldn't mount it lower. Actually Erik Treves mounted his behind the battery and he's much smarter than me. :)

I was able to use the Subaru mounting bracket (modified) with the addition of another bracket that I made up. Successfully mounted behind the battery box. Seems like a good location.

I mounted behind the battery box as well after trimming the factory bracket. Feel free to check any of our (see above and likely below) to see what we've done so far. It isn't a lot of extra work so far. More planning than working. I came to the conclusion today that enlarging one of the front firewall holes will be necessary to fit the ABS module plug through, but the same wire run has a nice firewall plug in it. I am under the impression we also need the G sensor for the higher ABS functions. I was looking at that today and couldn't figure out which way to orient the sensor. It's marked which way to point forward, but I can't figure out which way is "up" or "right".

Does anyone know if the ABS module needs to be mounted horizontal (level) as it is in the WRX? Or can it be mounted vertical?

I would mount it the same as the donor.
You might get air pockets that you can't bleed if you mount it any other way.
