I am at the point of working on my tranny. I have an 06' WRX donor. Is there a difference with the kit? How about using the after market (VCP) parts?

My understanding is that it only matters for parts related to the clutch (slave cylinder, throw out bearing, possibly flywheel, etc.). It should not matter outside of that. My own 2003 transmission has 2009 gears (still using the 2003 clutch parts), so you can see how similar they are. Shifters are the same as well, so you should be able to use the VCP K-Tuned shifter with any 5mt transmission from 2002-2007.

I picked up Michael Everson's, flex clutch line kit, but found the push type clutch I had (2007) didn't work as he had planned with the lower left mounting of the line from the frame. I was able to nicely mount it from the upper left frame where it shouldn't affect engine pulls. The idea was to be able to do engine pulls easily without having to rebleed the clutch, just unbolt the slave and push aside. FFR has you route it under the intake manifold, and the flex line is too short to reach the frame. I liked the easier access and idea of Mike's kit. The push type slave is a more difficult reach under the intercooler, making the idea of avoiding unnecessary bleeds even more appealing. So, no real difference there, just a slightly different routing of the hard line to accommodate.
