Hey there everyone,

I just wanted to give everyone the update on the first batch of Quaife differentials we put in.

They were scheduled to leave the UK on the 28th of Feb. I would expect them to take about a week or so to get in and through Customs.

The supplier that I receive them from will let me know when they have arrived and I will then further update everyone here.

Thank you all for your business and patience. We are just about there everyone.

I am taking orders for the 2nd batch currently, as I am pretty sure that I have already sold even the couple that were ordered for me for stock already, so if you want to get in, now would be the time.

Happy to help,

Hi Erik,

I have a couple questions for you.

In your first buy, you state "The Impreza differential that has a female flange on the differential and accepts a male axle flange. (QDH3Y) These are a pretty good deal. $725.00"
Can you confirm that this will fit the 02 WRX transmission?
Then I will need male axle half-shafts correct. I haven't located my shafts yet.

That seems like a better deal than the other option if I still have to buy the female shafts.
Thanks

Hi Harley,

Yes I can confirm fitment for you on this differential for the 2002 gearbox, and yes you can if need be get the correct flanges if you do not already have them. They are not overly expensive with is quite nice.

Happy to Help.

Update for everyone else. They have made it to customs but it would appear that they are taking their time in getting processed. We expected to have these last week but that obviously did not happen. I will keep you all posted here as things progress this week.

Best Regards to all and happy building.

On the Quaife site the QDH3Y differential is listed as a "Quaife ATB Differential [Subaru Impreza Sti (front) six-speed DCCD gearbox]".

The 02 WRX is a 5 speed gearbox.

The part number listed on the Quaife site is the QDH1Y. "Impreza AWD WRX USA 5-speed non STI front Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential"

The QDH3Y is also a female differential and the QDH1Y is a male differential.

I'm interested in participating in the next group buy. I just want to confirm the part.

Are the 6 speed and 5 speed differentials interchangeable? With the only difference being male vs female?

ssssly,

Give me a call when you have time and I will be happy to go over this with you.

The easy answer here is that the Quaife site is in need of some new updates.

Happy to help, and it is simply easier to explain to you over the phone then to go through the information all over again here. If you check out some earlier posts you can find the information as well, though.

Dug up the old thread.

If you get another GB together I would like one. I have male axles.

Great News for everyone.

The first Batch of 8 differentials has arrived and is on the way to me. It should not take long now, and I will be getting these out to everyone.

Thank you all for your patience, the delay as it turns out was due to a document problem on Quaife UK.

I just thought you would all like to know.

Round 2 everyone. Get your order in now before pricing goes up. I don't think it will go up by too much, but I this first batch, which I will continue for the second as well was basically a break even deal for me to help get the word out for The Race Line.

Thank you all for joining in and taking advantage of this great deal.

Erik:

Did I make into round one or round two?

Hey there Rasmus,

I thought I there was a chance that I could get you on Round one, but they did not get as many as I had hoped that they would.

You are #1 on Round 2, I do not think we will have to wait too long on this next batch, but as I have done here with this first round, I will keep you posted every step of the way.

Erik

Is it possible for someone to post some true comparison testing between the way a stock 818 would be driven/perform in comparison to a stock 818 but with one of these diffs in it?

It should be here shortly. The first batch is going out tomorrow to everyone. I have sent tracking numbers to you all so that you can track it to your home.

Happy to help everyone, and Eric, if you have some questions please feel free to give me a call. I will be happy to answer them for you.

No LSD = OTF One Tire Fire.... :o

I don't think that any high HP car should be driven in anger w/o an LSD. A torsen style LSD like the Quaife is an excellent compromise. I'd go with a clutch type in a dedicated track car... There is a detailed evaluation thread somewhere on this forum from about a year ago. I love the Torsens in 2 of my Miatas.

I received mine today and looked it over. First thing I thought... 300 horse through this???

Any way the directions say to install the spacers if installing in a 6 speed.. Does this mean after we trash the 5 speed we can use the Quaife in the sti 6 speed trans mission?
