Hi all, right I'm almost there!! When the engine is in the chassis what clearance is there from the chassis/rear bulkhead in front of the engine cover? Does the cover come off in a car forward removal? If so, how much clearance should there be to the chassis in order to make it easy enough to change the belt? 2/3"? Are there any photos showing the clearance? Think I'm almost there with the questions, sorry! This is definitely the place for knowledgeable and friendly advice... Thanks all....

I made my rear engine fire wall bolt on. I can remove it and the seats and have clear access to the front of the motor. Otherwise, I'd just pull the motor to do major maintenance.

Thanks Mechie3, that what i was thinking too. What clearance have you got from the engine to the frame then please? Roughly? Thanks again..

1-3/4" from the proudest pieces (passenger side timing belt cover and pulleys). 3-1/2" for the rest of the timing belt cover. Clearly easier work with a removable firewall, but access for now seems pretty good, but that is before mounting anything else like reservoirs, the body, fuse panels, wires,... etc.

Don't read that as 1-1/4", that's a horizontal bar that looks a bit closer due to parallax.

Great, thanks Goldwing, I think a removable cover is definitely the way to go, thanks for the measurements and photos too.. How's the build going?...

Little bite, by little bite, lol. As fate would have it, I'm a stay-at-home dad until they fix my head, lol. (I'm a grounded, dizzy pilot). So, naptime is about all I get. Usually 2 hours/day. Working on the pedal box now, while figuring out how I want to add a firewall with the engine already in. It's just too exciting a step to get the engine in, that I completely forgot my intention to add the extra firewall.

Great to have time off but hope you're ok... Now the engine is in it just makes you want to get on and drive it eh!! Thanks again and good luck with your head.. Keep us posted with pics :-)
