My underseat alum panel has a tab. I recall a question about whether that was "OK" or "normal," but I don't recall seeing any mention of the proper orientation (tab toward the front of the car, or tab toward the rear of the car). The picture of the alum panel in the manual doesn't have the tab.
I'll call FFR tomorrow if no one knows.

I wondered the same thing, but since I'm in no hurry to install it I figured someone else would figure it out for me...:p

interesting, they added a tab to the under battery tray aluminum too... My early kit (#17) doesn't have any tabs... no idea what they are for.

The tabs point toward the middle of the car, on the later cars there is a slot in the floor pans from the locating fixture that they seal up from the bottom. The early cars had these patched from the top with a welded steel section.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that answers the question. The tab is obviously in the middle of the car, but does it go to the front side by our feet or the back by the tank? And what is it there for?

There are two floor panels with tabs, one under the seats and one under the battery area, the tab on the under-seat panel points forward and the tab on the under battery panel points backward (Thats what I meant by both point toward the middle) They seal up the holes left in the floor from the frame fixture, that is their only function.

Great, thanks Jim! And now that you pointed it out, I see the slots/holes they are designed to cover. :)

No one is putting in steel floors ? I will be putting in 1/8" steel floor as there is all sorts of items that can come up through that aluminum on the track

That's a good point. I'm going to consider that.

Great timing Xusia. I was just contemplating that today (couple steps away). I had assumed forward, but didn't really look underneath to figure it all out. I also contemplated the relative weak link of the aluminum panel, but after considering the seat and the protections it can provide will be directly above it. The more exposed areas that don't have any second line protections are all steel. As I install the seats, I may add a little extra protection for anything not covered by a seat. Good thoughts guys.
