I have seen a donor this morning, very good condition and low mileage, but it has rear drums. It's a 2003 NA Impreza 2.5 TS.

After reading this thread http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?10582-Brakes it looks like I would need a lot of parts from a rear disc assembly in order to use rear discs. I already got my Wilwoods, but it seems I cannot use the rear spindles, e-brake stuff and other stuff.

Read Post #3.

Drums
Some cars have rear drums that are like 9." I don't really know anything about Subaru drum brakes so it would help if someone filled that stuff in.
Some of them are: Legacy and Impreza Brighton models, Some 95-99 Legacy L models, some foresters and I think 02+ Impreza TS and OBS. (I'm not sure exactly)

To swap out drums, at the least you will need new parking brakes, backing plates, discs, calipers, and brake lines. It is usually best to get a whole knuckle/hub/parking brake assembly out of a car with rear discs. If you want to put rear discs on your front wheel drive Subaru, you might have to parts from a 90-94 Legacy, since they might be the only FWD Subarus with rear discs and the FWD rear hubs/spindles/struts/etc are different.

Can anyone clarify or confirm if I can use the spindles, plates, etc. from that donor with my rear discs or if I need to get parts from a rear disc assembly?

From what I've read you need to swap spindles.

older car but same concept.

Ha you edited your post. :)
I couldn't see the bolt holes through the rim and drum.

Yeah it looks like I need quite some parts.
I'll get the cost of these parts and will remove that cost from the guy's price, see what he says.

tnx!

Actually I may not need that many. But the knuckles yes. I narrowed down the list on that link you provided. Since I already got the discs, calipers and brake lines.
I think I would need:

Backing plates
No ABS sensors and cables (that's my choice)
Parking brake cables

Just for the sake of someone shopping a drum donor (I personally didn't know before I saw it), there are 22 parts to get for that drum-to-disc conversion.

Adam @ Somerset Subaru was again extremely helpful to find these parts, as a worst case scenario.
Total of a few hundreds bucks.

But you don't need new knuckles and hubs, they are the same for drums and discs.
